Who Visits A Homeopath?

A homeopath always seeks to treat the person and their experience of their disease.  As such it is a treatment aimed at each individual rather then at named diseases.  However many people who come for a consultation do so with a diagnosis from their doctor.  An audit of my practice shows patients have sought homeopathy for these conditions over the past 12 months.

Pregnancy and childbirth

Homeopathy is suitable for use during pregnancy and childbirth, also for babies.  This is because it is safe and free from side effects.  Symptoms such as morning sickness may respond very well to homeopathic treatment and your homeopath will be able to suggest remedies to use during and after labour.  There are also remedies which may help with breast feeding difficulties as well as mastitis.  Colic and teething in babies may also respond to homeopathic remedies.

Children

Many of the complaints listed under the general heading will apply to children, in particular allergies, eczema, asthma and recurrent infections like coughs or sore throats.  Some children suffer from recurrent ear infections or glue ear and homeopathy may be able to help the child break the cycle of infections, thereby avoiding the need for repeated courses of antibiotics.

Behavioural and learning difficulties in children may also respond to homeopathy.

Children often get acute, self limiting illnesses, such as colds, coughs, sore throats, diarrhoea etc.  There is some evidence to suggest that homeopathy is effective in these situations and you may find with support from your homeopath that you are able to prescribe for your child with a home kit of remedies.
